Madurai Deities: Kallazhagar (Vishnu) This vast temple enclosed in a fortress is a beautiful and ancient structure with a lot of interesting features. The vimanam and the flag staff are gold plated. This temple has been patronized by the Cholas, Vijayanagar Kings and the Naiks. This is one of the 108 sacred Sree Vaishnavite shrines and has been sung by the Alwar Saint Poets.
