Dharmapuri
Temples of Andhra Pradesh

Dharmapuri in Karimnagar district in the Telengana area is home to the Yoga Narasimha temple.

It also houses the Ramalingeswara temple to Shiva near the Narasimha temple.

Legend has it that this region was a part of Dandakaranya and that Rama during his victorious return from Lanka towards Ayodhya, stopped at this place and worshipped Shiva - Ramalingeswara as in Rameswaram in Tamilnadu.

There is also a temple dedicated to Shiva - Gowtameswara, said to have been installed by Gowtama muni who is said to be the bringer of the river Godavari to this area.

Legend has it that Gowtama muni brought down the river Godavari to Tryambakeshwar,   where it is known as the Ganga.
